How do I create and send an online wedding card?

The best way for everyone to share their congratulations and best wishes with the happy couple is with an online card, like a Thankbox. Whether called virtual, digital, group, or group greeting cards, they have many advantages over a traditional paper card.

As an online card and gift collection, it is very easy to create a Thankbox and invite everyone to leave messages and contribute to a collection.

Follow these simple steps for your unique Thanbox online wedding card:

Create. One click is all it takes to get started.
Add the details of the couple and give the card a title e.g. “We ALL wish you a happy day and many wonderful years together - xxxx”. Say who it’s from and decide to pay now or later.
Choose whether to include a collection for a gift at this point - you can also elect to pay for your Thankbox from the gift collection amount.
Share. Email (or share via message apps) the unique Thankbox link to all those you want to contribute.
Customise. While everyone is adding their message, as the organiser you can change the background, icon, or edit the details.
Send. When everyone has added their message, check the recipient’s email address and send - immediately or schedule for a specific date.

What to write in your online wedding card?

A traditional paper card isn’t fit for purpose for a group to share their congratulations. It is impractical - not everyone can sign, they may be anywhere in the world. Even if they can, it is restrictive - there’s not a lot of space to express yourself.

How do I collect money for a gift? Does it cost extra?

When setting up your Thankbox, you can enable the Gift Collection feature to collect money for a gift card. This feature is included as standard across all Thankboxes.

Contributors can add donations along with their messages, which get added to the overall gift collection pot. The recipient cannot see who contributed to the gift pot, or the individual amounts contributed.

There is a small additional fee for using the Gift Collection feature to cover part of our payment processing & fraud prevention costs. We do not make money from these fees, they are simply the costs charged to us by our payment platform.

All collected funds are securely held until the Thankbox is sent, after which the recipient can exchange them for a digital gift voucher of their choice or a prepaid Visa card.

How secure is Thankbox?

Thankbox takes security very seriously. Our servers and software are secure and compliant with best practice security protocols. Payment processing is handled by Stripe, one of the most secure and widely used digital payment platforms.

Only people with the sharing link can access a Thankbox and only to leave a message or contribute.

We adhere to GDPR regulations and sensitive data is never shared to third parties without consent.
